Lebec, CA: Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway at Vista Del Lago near Pyramid Lake
Ventura Co. Search And Rescue Member Killed, Several Others Injured in 5 Freeway Crash in Lebec
Lebec, California (February 2, 2019) – A Ventura County Sheriff’s search and rescue volunteer was killed and several other people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Lebec Saturday morning, according to a local news source.
The horrific accident happened at around 8:05 a.m. on the 5 Freeway at Vista Del Lago near Pyramid Lake.
Authorities said the volunteer team member was part of a unit that was headed to a training session when they stopped to assist with an accident as heavy rains drenched the region.
The search and rescue member died in the crash. The name of the deceased victim has not been disclosed pending identification and notification of family.
It’s unknown what caused the crash. No other details were immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
