Layloni Rue Hit, Killed by Big Rig on Highway 58 in Bakersfield
Layloni Rue ID’d as 23-Year-Old Victim Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Highway 85 near Mount Vernon Avenue

Bakersfield, California (October 14, 2020) – Layloni Ariel Ashely Rue, 23, has been identified as the person who was hit and killed by a semi-truck on Sunday night in Bakersfield, according to the Kern County coroner’s office.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident transpired at about 8:00 p.m., on October 11, on eastbound Highway 85 near Mount Vernon Avenue.
The CHP said the big rig struck Rue on the highway in unclear circumstances.
Following the collision, the semi continued driving eastbound and stopped a short distance later, officials said.

Rue was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another vehicle is believed to have also struck the pedestrian before the arrival of the CHP.
Eastbound lanes of Highway 58 were closed for an unknown period due to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
