Larry Bowie Suffers Major Injuries in Dixon Crash on Highway 80 near Dixon Avenue

Dixon, California (April 13, 2021) – Larry Bowie, 31, of Vallejo, was seriously injured after being involved in a deadly traffic accident in Dixon early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The fatal accident happened at about 2:38 a.m. Sunday, April 11 on the westbound side of Interstate 80 near Dixon Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP said Bowie was driving a black Mazda CX5 on Interstate 80 at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the back of a silver Hyundai Elantra.
The Mazda came to rest blocking lanes of the roadway.
A short time later, a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, driven by Mason Wessel, 29, of San Francisco, collided with a silver Toyota Prius, driven by Karen Maduena, 26, of Suisun City.
The Toyota Tacoma continued and struck the Mazda and its driver, Bowie, who was standing outside the vehicle.
The police said the Toyota continued forward and hit Julie Phillips, 47, of Dixon who was among the good Samaritans who stopped to help at the scene.
Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bowie was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center with major injuries, while Maduena had minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
Wessel was also transported to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries before being arrested on suspicion of DUI.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
