2-Year-Old Boy Killed in Lamont Pedestrian Crash at Sunset Boulevard and South Edison Road
Lamont, California (August 3, 2020) – A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday in the Lamont and Arvin areas, police said.
The crash happened on August 1, at Sunset Boulevard and South Edison Road.
A man was getting in his SUV to check on livestock, and while pulling forward in a driveway, he ran over the child, the California Highway Patrol said.
The child sustained major head injuries and was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The involved driver, identified as Jose Arvizu Malagon, 31, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested, the officials said.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
