25-Year-Old Man Injured in La Mesa Skateboard Crash on Spring Street near Lemon Avenue
La Mesa, California (October 18, 2019) – A skateboard rider was struck and injured by a vehicle on Thursday night in La Mesa, according to the police.
The incident took place on Spring Street near Lemon Avenue on Thursday, October 17.
Police said a 25-year-old was riding a skateboard southbound in the right lane of traffic on Spring Street when a southbound 2004 Dodge Dakota struck him.
The impact ejected the rider from the skateboard and he landed on the asphalt.
Rider Injured in La Mesa Skateboard Crash
Medics responded to the incident and transported the rider to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, a 52-year-old man, was uninjured in the crash and was not suspected of drunk driving.
Spring Street was shut down for several hours as crews examined and cleared the scene.
The crash is under investigation.
