La Mesa, CA: 2 Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on Interstate 8
2 Injured in La Mesa Collision on Interstate 8 near Baltimore Drive
La Mesa, California (May 22, 2020) – Two people were hospitalized, and a driver was arrested after a suspected DUI crash on Thursday morning in La Mesa, according to police.
The crash happened at about 12:10 a.m., on May 21, on eastbound Interstate 8 near Baltimore Drive.
A 2009 Cadillac CTS, driven by Stephen Briseno, 24, of El Cajon, was traveling in the No. 2 lane of the interstate when, for unknown reasons, it rear-ended a 2017 Honda Civic, a Uber vehicle, said the California Highway Patrol.
The Honda reportedly overturned as a result of the collision.

The Uber driver, a 36-year-old man, sustained major injuries while his passenger, a 22-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. They were both taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Uber driver was wearing a seat belt, and the female passenger was not, according to the police.
Briseno, who was the lone occupant in the Cadillac, was not injured in the crash. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injuries.
Briseno was booked into San Diego County Jail.
The crash remains under investigation.
