San Valley, California (May 6, 2021) – A motorist was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a fatal car crash in Sun Valley on Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 1 a.m. on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway near Sheldon Street.
A 2003 Lexus IS300 was traveling on the roadway at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to maintain the vehicle in its lane and struck a BMW 325i that was also traveling southbound.
The impact of the collision caused the Lexus to drift off the right shoulder where it went up an embankment and overturned.

A 26-year-old La Canada man who was riding in the Lexus was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 27-year-old North Hollywood woman who was driving the Lexus suffered minor injuries in the accident. She was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
A 39-year-old Beverly Hills man who was driving the BMW was unhurt.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
