Lake Wood, California (April 1, 2019) – 29-year-old Kyle McNeley was identified as the pedestrian hit and killed by a vehicle in Lakewood Thursday evening, according to a local news source.

The auto-pedestrian accident, which took place in the evening hours of March 28, occurred on Bellflower Boulevard.

As per Lakewood police, an unspecified vehicle struck McNeley while he was in a wheelchair at the intersection of Harvey Way and Bellflower Boulevard. The vehicle hit McNeley as he was crossing the road.

Due to the collision, McNeley sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead.

A motorcycle rider who witnessed the incident followed the driver who fled the scene after the crash. The motorist later returned to the scene and was determined to be under influence.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

No further details were released on the accident.
