Kimberlin Gonzalez ID’d as 1 of 2 Children Injured in Watts Pedestrian Crash on Compton Avenue near 92nd Street
South Los Angeles, California (May 20, 2021) – Kimberlin Gonzalez, 8, was among two children who were struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver early this month in the Watts neighborhood in southern Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The crash happened at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, May 9 on Compton Avenue, just south of East 92nd Street.
Police said Gonzalez and another 8-year-old child were walking west across Compton Avenue when they were hit by a southbound Chevrolet Cruze.
2 Children Injured in Compton Hit-And-Run Crash
Both children were transported to a hospital with critical injuries.
The involved driver did not stop to render aid to the victims and fled the scene. The suspect was last seen heading southbound on Compton Avenue.
Police are searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
