Kern County, California (July 4, 2019) – Two people were injured in a traffic crash involving a semi-truck early Thursday morning in McKittrick, Kern County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The incident took place at about 4:26 a.m. on Highway 46, also known as Paso Robles Highway, just east of Holloway Road.

According to CHP, a semi-truck loaded with strawberries collided with a Nissan Altima for unknown reasons.

Two occupants of the semi were trapped in the vehicle.  Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the parties. The victims sustained minor injuries in the accident.

There was no word given on the condition of the occupants of the Altima.

The crash is under an active investigation.
