Kerman, CA: Fatal Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident at Highway 180 and Shasta

Kerman, California (January 9, 2019) – A man riding a bike was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday morning near Kerman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The horrific accident was reported at about 6:00 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 180 and Shasta.

The CHP said the man was riding his bike when for an unknown reason he was hit by a vehicle near the intersection. The bicyclist was thrown from his bike into bushes on the side of the road as a result of the crash.

The driver involved reportedly fled the scene without rendering aid to the bicyclist. Emergency responders declared the victim deceased at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending identification and notification of his relatives.

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver. The suspect car was described as a maroon.

The crash remains under investigation.
