Kenny Robbins Killed in Bakersfield Truck Crash on Highway 166 (Maricopa Highway)

Maricopa, California (January 22, 2019) – 47-year-old Kenny Brian Robbins, of Maricopa, has been identified as the person killed after a traffic collision Tuesday morning in the area of Maricopa, according to a local news source.
The accident happened at around 4:45 a.m. Tuesday on Maricopa Highway, also known as Highway 166, near Basic School Road.
As per the report, Robbins was driving a pickup truck eastbound on the highway when it crashed into the semi-truck in the area between Basic School Road and Old River.
At the same time, a semi-truck trailer reportedly broke down in the westbound side of the highway about 15-20 minutes before the fatal crash. The big rig operator, then put out cones and reflective triangles to deflect traffic to the shoulder.
Authorities believed that Robbins failed to see the big rig driver trying to deflect traffic and crashed into the trailer.
Responding emergency teams along with paramedics declared Robbins dead at the scene. A passenger in the pickup identified as 25-year-old Jacob Johnson sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. The patient was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
Officials did not release the name and the current condition of the big rig driver.
An investigation is ongoing.
