Kasey Blount Sustains Serious Injuries in McKinleyville Accident on Sutter Road and Weirup Lane

McKinleyville, California (November 17, 2020) – The victim who survived with major injuries following a car crash at an intersection in McKinleyville, Sunday evening, has been identified as 8-year-old Kasey Blount.

The major injury accident occurred at about 6:47 p.m., November 15, on Sutter Road and Weirup Lane.

The mishap involved a 2007 Jeep Wrangler operated by 29-year-old Samantha Blount, of McKinleyville, and a 2000 Nissan Frontier driven by 29-year-old William Cromwell westbound on Sutter Road.

Cromwell, a Santa Barbara resident, reportedly veered off into the opposite lane before crashing head-on with the Jeep Wrangler.

McKinleyville Traffic Accident Injures Kasey Blount

Kasey was hospitalized at UCSF Oakland Children’s Hospital with serious internal injuries. Officials said Kasey was riding in the Jeep at the time of the collision.

Cromwell sustained minor injuries in the wreck. Meanwhile, Cromwell was rushed to Mad River Community Hospital before being arrested on suspicion of DUI.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
