San Joaquin County, California (December 16, 2019) – Kalesha Johnson, 23, was critically injured in a fatal crash involving a sheriff’s deputy on Saturday night in San Joaquin County, according to a local news source.

The wreck happened at about 10:38 p.m. December 14, on Interstate 5 near Charter Way.

The deputy was traveling northbound on I-5 when he crashed into the back of a Ford sedan driven by Johnson. The impact pushed both vehicles off the side of the road and down the embankment.

Kalesha Johnson Critically Hurt in San Joaquin County Crash

The deputy removed Jonson’s baby, Kevin Hart, 1, from the backseat of the sedan and performed CPR on him. Kevin was then airlifted to a children’s hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Johnson was hospitalized with critical injuries while the deputy was treated and released.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
