Inyo County, California (September 2, 2020) – Julie Perry, 39, and Ruth Johns, 51, both of Ridgecrest, have been identified as two of the three people who were injured after being involved in a fatal crash Monday evening near Coso Junction in Inyo County.

The deadly car accident happened at around 5:42 p.m. Monday, August 31, on Highway 395 near the Coso Junction Rest Area.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a  29-year-old Ridgecrest man was driving a 2005 black Chevrolet Suburban on Highway 395 when, for undetermined reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and veered into the center median.

The Chevrolet then went across both lanes onto the dirt shoulder, where it rolled over several times and crashed into a barbed-wire fence.

The CHP said the driver of the Chevrolet died in the crash. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Three passengers in the Chevrolet were injured in the crash. Perry sustained lacerations to her lower lip/face, Johns suffered a left shoulder injury, and the third person had a cut to the top of his head.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
