Child Seriously Injured in Redding Fiery Fatal Crash on Highway 299 ID’d as Jude Lowdermilk

Shasta County, California (November 8, 2019) – The California Highway Patrol has identified the child who was hospitalized after a fiery head-on crash in Redding Wednesday night as 2-year-old Jude Lowdermilk.
The fiery fatal crash, which happened at about 8:05 p.m. on November 6, occurred on Highway 299 near Lower Springs Road.
As per the CHP report, Shasta County sheriff’s deputy Henry Taylor, 30, was driving west on Highway 299 when he struck a deer in the roadway, causing him to lose control and hit a Toyota sedan with three passengers who were traveling east. The sedan caught fire while Taylor’s vehicle ended up upside down in a ravine upon the impact.

The Sedan driver, 20-year-old Justine Jackson, suffered unspecified injuries following the wreck.
Lowdermilk, who was riding as a passenger in the Sedan, sustained major injuries and was rushed to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
A third passenger in the Sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the male deceased has not yet been released to this time.
Taylor suffered major injuries following the wreck and was also hospitalized for further treatment.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
