Juan Vasquez-Lopez Killed in Car Accident on Highway 99 in Chico
Juan Vasquez-Lopez ID’d as Man Killed in Highway 99 Crash near Gaia Way

Chico, California (March 27, 2019) – The man who was killed Monday afternoon in a car accident in Chico has been identified as Juan Vasquez-Lopez, 20, of Atwater, according to the Butte County Coroner’s Office.
The deadly accident happened at around 12:25 p.m. Monday, March 25 on Highway 99, just north of Gaia Way.
The California Highway Patrol said a red 2001 Toyota 4Runner was traveling southbound on Highway 99 while a blue 2009 Honda Civic was heading northbound. A 2017 Dodge pickup was following the Toyota 4Runner.
The Honda Civic then started to lost control for an unknown reason and crossed over the solid double yellow lines and into the southbound lane, where it collided with Toyota 4Runner.
The force of the impact caused the Dodge pickup to hit the Toyota 4Runner.
Fatal Multi-Car Accident on Highway 99 in Chico
Vasquez-Lopez, who was the driver of the Honda Civic, was declared dead at the scene. The drivers of the Dodge and the Toyota sustained minor injuries in the wreck.
It was undetermined if alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
