Juan Muniz III Killed in Oceanside Pedestrian Accident on North Coast Highway

Oceanside, California (January 30, 2020) – The man who was fatally hit by a suspected DUI driver early Sunday morning in Oceanside has been identified as Juan Muniz III, 22, a Marine from Kingsville, Texas, according to the County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash took place at around 1:10 a.m. January 26, on the North Coast Highway near Sportfisher Drive.

Police said Muniz was trying to cross the highway when he was hit by a northbound car.

Muniz III was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the car, identified as William Vaden, 31, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.

He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on a $2,500 bail.
