Angelus Oaks, California (July 6, 2020) – The man who died in a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon in Angelus Oaks has been identified as Juan Carlos Cruz, 34, of Los Angeles, according to San Bernardino County Coroner’s office.  

The deadly crash occurred at around 1:10 p.m., on June 24, on Highway 38, west of Forest Road 1N86 at mile marker 24.77.  

A 2016 Hyundai Veloster, driven by Cruz, was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 38 at a high rate of speed when it collided head-on with an oncoming 2014 Toyota Rav-4, driven by a 23-year-old woman., who was traveling eastbound.

Fatal Head-on Crash on Highway 38 in Angelus Oaks  

Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene at around 1:39 p.m.  

The Toyota driver sustained moderate injuries while her 16-year-old female passenger from Murrieta’s city sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.  

An investigation into the accident is underway.
