Joseph Ventura ID’d as Modesto Man Killed in Ninth Street Crash
Modesto, California (June 17, 2019) – The man who was killed early Monday morning in a traffic accident in south Modesto has been identified as Joseph Ventura, 67, of Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened at around 4:15 a.m. on Hosmer Avenue at Ninth Street.
CHP said Ventura was driving a Dodge westbound on Hosmer Avenue and approaching a stop sign at Ninth Street. The Dodge entered the intersection and was broadsided by a northbound Toyota.
According to the CHP, it was not immediately clear if Ventura stopped at the stop sign before entering the intersection.

Paramedics responded to the scene and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Ventura. He was then taken to Doctors Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Fernando Lopez, 62, of Merced, who was the driver of the Toyota, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
