Kelseyville Man Jose Velazquez Arrested after Highway 29 Crash near Bottle Rock Road in Clearlake
Clearlake, California (October 15, 2019) – Jose Velazquez, 21, of Kelseyville was arrested following an alleged DUI accident that left at least five people injured early Saturday morning in Clearlake.
According to a local news source, the collision took place at about 1:46 a.m. October 12, on Highway 29, just south of Bottle Rock Road.
According to a CHP report, Velazquez was driving a 2003 Acura northbound on Highway 29 when he drifted into the southbound side and collided with a 2017 Acura.
The southbound Acura spun in a counterclockwise direction while the northbound Acura rolled and came to rest on its wheels.
The driver of the southbound Acura and one passenger were flown to Santa Rosa Memorial with minor and major injuries. A 16-year-old boy also sustained major injuries and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital. A third passenger was treated for minor injuries.
Jose Velazquez Arrested after Highway 29 DUI Crash in Clearlake
Velazquez and his passenger, Jorge A. Lozano, 21, of Kelseyville, were hospitalized with minor injuries. They were later arrested and booked at the Lake County Jail. Velazquez was arrested on suspicion of DUI while Lozano was taken into custody for obstruction of a peace officer’s investigation, giving false information, and disorderly conduct.
The investigation is ongoing.
