Livingston, California (May 4, 2021) – Jose Nunez, 42, of Winton, has been identified as the man who was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Sunday morning near Livingston in Merced County, according to the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.

The fatal collision happened at about 12:42 a.m., on May 3, in the area of Olive Avenue and Cressey Way, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Nunez was driving a 2013 Honda Civic northbound on Olive Avenue when he drifted across the double yellow line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a southbound 2021 Peterbilt truck driven by 57-year-old Gonzalo Anaya.

The Honda is reported to have burst into flames after the crash.

Sadly, Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anaya was unhurt.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision.
