Jose Hidalgo Arrested after Fatal Corona Pedestrian Crash on 91 Freeway near Green River Road
Corona, California (May 14, 2019) – A Corona man was arrested after a deadly hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead early Monday morning in Corona, according to the CHP.
The crash was reported shortly after 2 a.m. May 13, on the 91 Freeway just east of Green River Road.
CHP said a 33-year-old Riverside woman pulled to the shoulder of the freeway to assist a friend in another vehicle, and whose dogs were acting up.
As the woman was tending to her friend, a passing vehicle struck her. The driver failed to stop at the scene after the incident.
The victim, later identified as Desiree Taitano, died of injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver involved reportedly abandoned the vehicle at about 500 feet from the crash site and fled. He later contacted the authorities to report the incident and he was located and arrested in his home.
Police identified the driver as Jose Hidalgo, 48, of Corona. He was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
