Jose Gastelum Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident at 1st and Reed Streets
Jose Gastelum ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Crash at South 1st Street and Reed Street in San Jose

San Jose, California (February 3, 2021) – Authorities have identified the bicyclist who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday morning in San Jose as Jose Francisco Gastelum, 36.
The deadly accident occurred at about 4:27 a.m. Sunday, January 31, at the intersection of South 1st Street and Reed Street.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on southbound 1st Street when it hit Gastelum, who was riding his bicycle on the roadway.
Bicyclist Hit and Killed by Vehicle at South 1st Street and Reed Street
Gastelum was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle involved did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2016 or 2017 black Chevrolet Silverado with a crew cab and a bed cover and should have front-end damage.
The vehicle was last seen heading northbound on southbound 1st Street.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
