Boyle Heights, California (January 6, 2021) – Jose Farias, 26, of Huntington Park, has been identified as the suspect who was arrested after a hit-and-run crash that left an elderly woman injured last month in Boyle Heights, authorities said.

The pedestrian accident happened at about 5:35 p.m., on Saturday, December 19, at the intersection of Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Soto Street.

According to the police, the woman was walking with her husband near the intersection when a vehicle, driven by Farias, turned left onto Soto Street and struck her.

The woman was injured in the accident.

Farias fled the scene after the collision. On Monday, January 4, a traffic lieutenant who was investigating the accident spotted a truck that looked like the vehicle involved in the crash. 

He directed the driver to pull over. The person behind the wheel was the suspected hit-and-run driver, Farias. Farias was arrested in connection with the incident.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
