Fresno, California (May 3, 2021) – The authorities have disclosed the identities of a 45-year-old father and his 7-year-old son who were killed in a car accident in Fresno County on Saturday night.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 8 p.m. May 1, in the area of Marks and North Avenues.
22-year-old Jovan Adam Cortez was driving a truck northbound on Marks Avenue when he allegedly ran a stop sign and slammed into an SUV occupied by a family of six.
The truck, which was occupied by a 10-month-old girl, burst into flames after the crash.

Jose Castillo and his son, Jose Castillo Jr., were ejected from the SUV and were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A 7-year-old boy, a 4-year-old girl, and an 11-year-old girl who were inside the SUV sustained major injuries in the accident. Their mother, who was the only occupant wearing a seatbelt, suffered moderate injuries in the accident.
The officers arrived at the scene and pulled the baby out of the car seat and Cortez was helped out.
Cortez was arrested and booked into the Fresno County jail on multiple charges, including DUI.
