Johnny Chu Killed in Bicycle Accident on Vistapark Drive in San Jose
Johnny Chu ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in San Jose Crash on Vistapark Drive near West Capitol Expressway
San Jose, California (July 18, 2019) – Authorities have identified Johnny Chu, 70, of San Jose, as the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning in San Jose.
The fatal accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. Monday, July 15 on Vistapark Drive near West Capitol Expressway.
Authorities said Chu and another cyclist were heading southbound on Vistapark Drive when they were hit by a gray Chevy SUV that was pulling out of Bonfare Market traveling the same direction.
Chu died in the accident. The other rider suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The driver of the SUV stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The police are investigating the incident.
