Oildale, California (July 5, 2021) – Authorities have identified the woman who died after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Oildale as Joanne Margaret Stayman, 32, of Bakersfield.
The fatal crash occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at the intersection at Airport Drive and Castaic Avenue near Meadows Field Airport, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said Stayman was crossing westbound at Airport Drive and Castaic Avenue when a Volkswagen hit her.
Woman Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Oildale Identified
Stayman was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.
Investigators believed Stayman was under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred.
