Mission Bay Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 5 near Sea World Drive Kills Jesus Villegas
Mission Bay, California (November 29, 2020) – 45-year-old Gabriel Villegas has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as the Chula Vista victim who died following a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday night on a freeway in Mission Bay.
On November 25, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officials received a crash report involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 5 near Sea World Drive.
The accident happened when a pickup truck veered off the roadway and crashed with a vehicle operated by Villegas southbound on I-5.
Villegas’ car then lost control upon the impact and struck a tree, the San Diego Police Department reported.
Meanwhile, several victims were pinned inside the wreckage.

Villegas was declared dead at the scene while his passenger was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The detectives handling the case are gathering more evidence to determine the cause of the accident.
