Jerry Johnson ID’d as Man Killed in Hercules Crash on Highway 4 near Franklin Canyon Road Off-Ramp
Hercules, California (January 20, 2021) – Authorities have identified the man who died following a single-vehicle traffic accident Tuesday morning in Hercules as Jerry Johnson, 61, of Richmond.
The deadly accident happened at about 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, in the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 near the Franklin Canyon Road exit, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, Johnson was driving a Geo Metro eastbound on Highway 4 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and drifted off the roadway.
The vehicle then crashed into a tree that was on the shoulder of the highway.
Deadly Car Accident on Highway 4 in Hercules
Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
It was not immediately clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
