Fairfax District, California (March 4, 2021) – Authorities have identified the innocent driver who died after a police pursuit ended in a fiery traffic accident Tuesday night near The Grove in the Fairfax District as Jeeves Tangonan, 37, of Los Angeles.

The deadly crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the intersection of Fairfax Avenue and Third Street.

The officers were chasing a suspect in a Chevy Malibu wanted for a traffic violation when the suspect slammed into a blue sedan at the intersection.

After the impact, the front-end of the Chevy burst into flames while the sedan became wedged between the wall of a Citibank building and a tree.

Fatal Fiery Crash in Fairfax District

Tangonan, who was driving the blue sedan, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries before being booked into jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
