68-Year-Old Modesto Man Killed in Jamestown Motorcycle Crash on Highway 120 near Green Springs Road

Jamestown, California (September 9, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning in a traffic accident involving a big rig in Jamestown, according to authorities.
The deadly motorcycle collision happened at about 11:50 a.m. Saturday, September 5 on Highway 120, just west of Green Springs Road.
Authorities said a 68-year-old Modesto man stopped his 1999 Harley Davidson Motorcycle on the north shoulder of eastbound Highway 120 to help another rider whose motorcycle had become disabled.
After assisting the disabled motorcycle, the Modesto man started his motorcycle. He then entered the eastbound lanes of Highway 120 and was hit by a 2012 Kenworth big rig operated by Eric Roen, 63, of Knights Ferry.

Bystanders performed CPR on the rider. Despite life-saving measures, the victim did not survive his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
The motorcyclist was wearing his helmet at the time of the accident. His name was withheld pending notification of the family.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
The eastbound lane of the highway was closed for about two hours during the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
