35-Year-Old Ismael Rodriquez Injured in Highway 29 Crash near Bottle Rock Road in Clearlake
Clearlake, California (October 15, 2019) – Ismael Rodriquez, 35, of Clearlake was seriously injured in a traffic collision involving a suspected DUI driver early Saturday morning in Clearlake.
According to a local news source, the collision took place at about 1:46 a.m. October 12, on Highway 29, just south of Bottle Rock Road.
According to a CHP report, a 2003 Acura was traveling northbound on Highway 29 when it drifted into the southbound side and collided with a 2017 Acura.
The southbound Acura spun in a counterclockwise direction while the northbound Acura rolled and came to rest on its wheels.
Ismael Rodriquez Injured in Highway 29 Crash in Clearlake
Rodriquez was a passenger in the southbound Acura and was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial with major injuries. The driver of the Acura was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. She sustained minor injuries and was also airlifted to Santa Rosa.
A 16-year-old boy in the southbound Acura also sustained major injuries and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital. A third passenger was treated for minor injuries.
The two occupants of the Acura were hospitalized with minor injuries. They were later arrested and booked at the Lake County Jail. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI while the passenger was taken into custody for obstruction of a peace officer’s investigation, giving false information, and disorderly conduct.
Traffic in both directions was closed following the collision.
CHP is investigating the accident.
