Indio, California (February 10, 2021) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a truck Monday evening on an interstate in Indio, according to a local news source.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened shortly before 10:10 p.m. Monday, February 8 on Interstate 10, just east of Golf Center Parkway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, the pedestrian, a 50-year-old San Bernardino man, was in the right westbound lane of the interstate when a 2017 Kenworth truck hit him.

The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The operator of the truck, a 28-year-old Phoenix man, remained at the scene after the accident. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
