Horse Rider Critically Injured in Galt Crash on Colony Road near Arno Road

Galt, California (December 27, 2020) – A horse rider was struck and critically injured by a vehicle Saturday evening in Galt, according to a local news source.
At about 6:06 p.m. Saturday, December 26, the California Highway Patrol officials received a report about the accident in the 11458 block of Colony Road near Arno Road.
According to the CHP, a person was riding a horse on Colony Road when, for unknown reasons, they were hit by a vehicle.
First responders arrived at the scene and found the horse rider down on the roadway. The horse was located in a ditch nearby.
The rider, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The horse was euthanized following the crash, according to the authorities.
Both lanes of Colony Road were blocked due to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
