Hopland, CA: Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 101
RV Driver Killed, 1 Injured in Hopland Crash on Highway 101 near Frog Woman Rock
Hopland, California (June 15, 2021) – A head-on crash involving a big rig and a motorhome has claimed the life of one person Tuesday morning south of Hopland and left one other person seriously injured, the California Highway Patrol said.
The tragic wreck occurred at around 7:08 a.m. on Highway 101, just south of Frog Woman Rock near mile marker 4.35.
According to the CHP, a U-Haul-type trailer was traveling northbound Highway 101 when, for an unknown reason, the RV veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a southbound tractor-trailer.
After the impact, the tractor-trailer went off the road and crashed down a 100-foot embankment next to the Russian River.

The RV driver died at the scene. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
The crash prompted the officers to temporarily close Highway 101 in both directions for several hours. As of 10:35 a.m., one northbound lane and one southbound lane were reopened to traffic.
No other details about the crash were immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
