Hemet Man Killed in Homeland Pedestrian Accident on Highway 74 near Sultanas Road

Homeland, California (October 16, 2020) – A Hemet man was struck and killed by a vehicle early Friday morning in Homeland, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened just after midnight on Highway 74, just east of Sultanas Road.
As per the CHP report, the 35-year-old Hemet man was attempting to cross the highway outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze that was traveling eastbound.
Pedestrian Dies After Getting Struck by Car in Homeland
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old Hemet woman, was not injured and stopped at the scene to cooperate with the police. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the factor in the crash.
Authorities said there are no street lights in the area.
The accident remains under investigation.
