Hesperia Man Killed, Apple Valley Man Seriously Injured in Lucerne Valley Crash on State Route 247 near Medanos Avenue
Lucerne Valley, California (July 14, 2021) – A head-on crash has claimed the life of a 29-year-old Hesperia man Monday night in Lucerne Valley and left another person seriously injured, the California Highway Patrol said.
The tragic accident happened just before 10:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, on State Route 247 near Medanos Avenue.
According to the CHP, a 21-year-old Apple Valley man was driving a Ford F-350 pick-up truck eastbound on State Route 247 when, for an unknown reason, he allowed the vehicle to drift into the westbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet Avalanche.
The Apple Valley man then steered to the right and went directly into the path of a Dodge Dart driven by the Hesperia man. The truck ultimately crashed into the left side of the Dart.

The driver of the Dart was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The Apple Valley man was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver and passengers in the Avalanche did suffer any injuries in the collision.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
