Hercules, California (May 31, 2021) – One person was airlifted to a hospital after a Monday afternoon four-car crash in Hercules, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred at about 1:20 p.m. on westbound Interstate 80, just north of Highway 4.

CHP said four vehicles were involved in the crash. Details on what led up to the collision were not immediately available.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid to the parties involved. One patient was transported via a helicopter ambulance to a hospital in unknown condition.

The two westbound fast lanes on the four-lane freeway were closed following the wreck.
