Hector Cortes Killed in Car Accident at Nebraska and Elm in Fresno
Man Killed, George Gonzalez Jr and Melissa Sanchez Injured in Fresno Car Accident at Nebraska and Elm Avenues

Fresno, California (January 26, 2020) – A man was killed in a car accident that injured a woman and three other people on Friday morning in Caruthers, Fresno.
The accident happened at about 11:40 a.m. January 24, at the intersection of Nebraska and Elm avenues.
The California Highway Patrol said 39-year-old Hector Cortes of Fresno was driving a truck when reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a Jeep Liberty driven by 23-year-old George Gonzalez Jr.
1 Killed and 4 Injured in Crash near Caruthers
Both vehicles overturned after the collision.
Hector Cortes was killed in the accident.
George Gonzalez Jr and her passengers, 23-year-old Melissa Sanchez, and 79-year-old Julie Torres and 56-year-old Daniel Torres were injured in the accident and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The authorities said Sanchez sadly lost her 29-week unborn baby.
The accident is under investigation. However, the police believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
