Heather Martinez Killed in DUI Crash on Highway 180 in Minkler, Kenia Rodriguez Arrested

Minkler, California (June 30, 2020) – Heather Martinez, 42, of Fresno, has been identified as the woman who was hit and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning in Minkler.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported at about 2:30 a.m. June 28, on Highway 180 near Piedra Road.
Martinez had been driving a vehicle when she stopped at the right shoulder for unknown reasons and got out of the car.
Martinez started walking along the shoulder and was then struck by a 2000 Toyota that was traveling eastbound on the highway.
Woman Hit and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver in Minkler ID’d
Paramedics responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures to Martinez who later succumbed to her injuries.
The Toyota driver, 32-year-old Kenia Rodriguez of Firebaugh, fled the scene after the accident but was later arrested.
Rodriguez was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges including felony DUI and hit-and-run.
The accident remains under investigation.
