At Least One Person Seriously Injured in Half Moon Bay Car Accident on Highway 1 and Medio Avenue
Half Moon Bay, California (March 18, 2019) – At least one person was seriously injured Sunday night in a traffic accident in Half Moon Bay, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at around 7:50 p.m. Sunday, March 17 on Highway 1 at Medio Avenue. Highway 1 is also known as Cabrillo Highway.
The California Highway Patrol said a white Hyundai Sonata collided with a blue Ford Escape for an unknown reason at the intersection.
As a result of the crash, one of the vehicles involved crashed into a pole nearby. The Hyundai Sonata was pushed 80 feet off the road.17 while the Ford Escape went 40 feet off the roadway and acquired major front-end damage.
Major-Injury Car Accident on Highway 1 Sunday in Half Moon Bay
Firefighters along with medical personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid to at least one person who suffered major injuries in the crash. The patient was then airlifted to a hospital for further treatment.
The name of the victim and their condition at this time remained unknown.
The crash caused the closure of all lanes on Highway 1 at Medio Avenue. The wreck remains under investigation by the CHP.
