Los Angeles, California (October 1, 2020) – 57-year-old Rebecca Grossman, the co-founder and chairwoman of the Grossman Burn Foundation in West Hills, was arrested after a fatal pedestrian accident that killed two boys in Westlake Village on Tuesday evening.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Grossman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter and was booked early Wednesday morning. She was released from custody early Thursday on a $2 million bail.

Grossman, the former publisher of Westlake Magazine, is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21.

The police said the crash that took the lives of two brothers happened at the intersection of Triunfo Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive at about 7:10 p.m. September 29.

Six family members were crossing the three-way intersection in a marked crosswalk when two vehicles approached at a high rate of speed and struck two boys.

The parents were able to reach out and pull the other two children out of danger.

“The children were walking with their family. It is a very tragic situation. The mother and father were able to pull the other two children back in time, and the vehicle struck the two other children,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The boys appeared to have been carried for more than a hundred feet down the road on the hood of the car after being struck. Grossman pulled over a mile and a half away from the scene of the accident.

Grossman is the wife of Dr. Peter Grossman, the director of the Grossman Burn Center. The center was founded by Peter’s late father, A. Richard Grossman.
