Glenn Johnny Peter Bengtsson Killed in Hang Gliding Accident at Torrey Pines Glider Port in La Jolla
Glenn Johnny Peter Bengtsson ID’d as One of Two Killed in La Jolla Hang Gliding Crash at Torrey Pines Glider Port

La Jolla, California (March 10, 2019) – Authorities have identified one of the two people who was killed Saturday afternoon in a hang gliding accident in La Jolla as Glenn Johnny Peter Bengtsson, 43, of Carlsbad.
The deadly wreck happened at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at Torrey Pines Glider Port.
Authorities said Bengtsson who was getting an advanced certification, was going southbound when he made a sharp turn and ran into the second glider, who was a more experienced pilot going north.
Bengtsson fell into the side of the cliff after the impact.
Bengtsson and the second glider, only identified as a 61-year-old man from San Diego, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities are conducting an investigation into the deadly incident.
