Gina Garcia Injured in Fatal Alleged DUI Crash on 101 Freeway in Newbury Park
Gina Garcia ID’d as Woman Hospitalized after Newbury Park Crash on 101 Freeway near Borchard Road

Newbury Park, California (February 6, 2021) – Gina Garcia, 58, of Ventura, has been identified as the woman who was injured in a Thursday afternoon traffic accident that killed a 24-year-old woman from Oxnard and a 25-year-old man from Ventura in Newbury Park, authorities said.
The deadly accident happened at about 12:10 p.m., on February 4, on 101 Freeway, just past Borchard Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Kia Sorrento SUV, driven by Garcia, was headed northbound on the freeway when it drifted into the fast lane and collided with a gray Chevrolet SUV.
As a result of the crash impact, both drivers lost control of their vehicles. The Kia veered in a northwesterly direction where it struck a black Toyota sedan in the slow lane. The Kia continued across the right shoulder and into a dirt area where it struck a tree, overturned and landed on its roof, the CHP said.
2 Killed in 101 Freeway Crash
Sadly, two passengers in the Kia were pronounced dead at the scene.
Garcia was hospitalized with major injuries. She was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
