Giao Pham ID’d as Man Killed in San Diego DUI Crash on State Route 163 near Quince Street
San Diego, California (March 24, 2019) – The man who was killed early Saturday morning in a suspected DUI two-car accident in San Diego has been identified as Giao Pham, 40, of San Francisco, according to a local news source.
The deadly crash took place at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23 on southbound State Route 163, just south of Quince Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Mazda sedan, which was a Lyft vehicle, was hit from behind by a 2016 Lexus sedan on the southbound lanes of State Route 163.
The impact of the crash pushed both vehicles off the highway. Both cars rolled down an embankment into a drainage ditch.

The CHP said a rear-seat passenger in the Mazda, Pham, was stuck in the wreckage and had to be ejected by the fire crews. He was declared dead at the scene.
Andy Lynn, 33, of San Leandro, who was the other rear passenger in the Mazda, was not wearing a safety belt and was thrown out of the vehicle by the impact. The man was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
The 27-year-old Santee driver of the Lift vehicle was transported to UC San Diego Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Lexus, Alondra Marquez, 21, was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The authorities said Marquez was released from the hospital and is facing a vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated charge and multiple counts of DUI causing injury or death.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
