Genaro Maravilla Critically Injured in Redding Accident at Placer Street and Willis Street

Redding, California (January 14, 2019) – A man was critically injured after a traffic collision involving an electric wheelchair Monday afternoon in Redding, according to a local news source.
The accident happened at around 12:16 p.m. Monday, at Placer Street and Willis Street.
As per the report, 54-year-old Genaro Maravilla of Redding was riding an electrical wheelchair southbound on Willis Street when he did not stop at Placer Street and entered the intersection where he was struck by a westbound Honda Accord.
The impact ejected Maravilla and he suffered severe injuries. Responding fire officials transported the victim to Mercy Hospital where he was listed in a critical condition.
81-year-old Joan Moynihan of Redding, the Honda driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was not hurt in the collision.
Authorities said that drugs or alcohol did not appear to play a role in the collision.
An investigation is underway.
