San Pablo, California (October 4, 2020) – The two men who were killed Friday evening following a fiery traffic crash in San Pablo have been identified as Gearry Terry Brown Jr., 37, and his father Gearry Sr., 70, both of Vallejo.

The deadly accident, which was reported at around 5:52 p.m. Friday, October 2, happened on westbound Interstate 80 at San Pablo Dam Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Kia sedan, driven by Brown Jr., was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 when, for an unknown reason, it slammed into a cement pillar that supports the over-crossing at San Pablo Dam Road.

The sedan caught fire after the crash.

Brown Jr. and his father, Gearry Sr., were trapped inside the burning car and were freed by bystanders. One victim died at the scene while the other person was transported to Highland Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Several lanes of westbound I-80 were closed due to the crash. As of 9:00 p.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.

The accident remains under investigation.
