Gary Reis Injured in 2-Car Accident on Highway 29 in Lower Lake
Gary Reis ID’d as One of Two Men Injured in Lower Lake Crash on Highway 29 near Diener Drive

Lower Lake, California (May 21, 2019) – One of the two local men who were seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on crash in Lower Lake has been identified as Gary Reis, 65, of Kelseyville, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two-car accident occurred at around 12:21 p.m. Sunday, May 19 on Highway 29, just north of Diener Drive, between Kelseyville and Lower Lake.
The CHP said a 2015 Ford Edge SUV was heading southbound on Highway 29 at around 55 mph when for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the SUV and veered across the set of solid double yellow lines into the northbound lane and into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was being driven northbound at about 45 mph by Reis.
Reis was unable to avoid the SUV and both vehicles collided head-on. The two vehicles came to stop in the northbound lane and blocked that lane.

Reis sustained major injuries and was taken to Adventist Health Clear Lake. The driver of the SUV also suffered major injuries and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Both patients were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Authorities believed wet conditions played a role in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
