8-Year-Old Boy Killed, 3 Injured in Fresno County Car Crash at Bethel Avenue and Rose Avenue; Karmjit Singh Arrested

Fresno County, California (February 24, 2019) – An 8-year-old boy was killed and three other people were injured Saturday night in an alleged DUI crash at a Fresno County intersection, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deadly accident occurred at around 10:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23 at the intersection of Bethel Avenue and Rose Avenue.
According to the CHP, Karmjit Singh was driving a BMW northbound on Bethel Avenue at 100 miles per hour when he ran a red light and slammed into a Kia Optima driven by Scott Martzen along with Megan Martzen and their 8-year-old son.
The boy was taken to Valley Children’s Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Scott and Megan were both taken to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
The CHP said Singh was arrest for possible DUI. He was driving on a suspended California driver license for a prior DUI conviction in 2016.
The crash remains under investigation.
